Cutting out the leaves for Magic Window.

View full article here. I am happy that my quilt, Magic Window, 2023, 70″ x 42″ was selected by juror Marcia Young for the 2025 SAQA Journal Gallery. This exhibition in print will be included in the SAQA Journal 2025 Issue #4. I wrote this when I made it in 2023 I dyed the fabric years ago and as I looked at it more recently, the idea popped right out of the cloth. I have gold fever, especially in the fall, when in Oregon and the California Sierra, gold flashes at us from all angles. The intricacies of the color yellow will always fascinate me. My grandson named it one day as I worked on it, and I think it expresses the feeling exactly. You can find the names ant titles of the other artists selected here.

I quilted the silk on my longarm before applying the leaves.

Hand printed dye on silk jacquard, hand dyed cotton broadcloth, various threads.

Machine quilted, leaves fused front to back and machine stitched to quilt with loose edges.
